Queens of the Stone Age

last night the Queens played at the Fox Theater in Oakland.  the set consisted of their self-titled album, along with 2 glorious encores.  they played hard and the sold-out crowd was eating it up.  Josh Homme is everything a lead singer should be.  sexy, badass, charming, and one hell of a musician.  he shook his hips around while he belted out some dirty guitar riffs.  the show was loud, rhythmic, dirty, raw, and fucking rad.

spring fever

oy!  Spring has sprung around the Bay and it is amazing.  there's a certain energy in the air and everything seems so much more exciting.  seeds planted yesterday will soon sprout new growth.
tiny buds are showing on the sleepy winter plants.

i'm craving new music, new threads, and am giddy about what the new season holds.

daydreams

my mind has been here, there, everywhere these days.  I've been daydreaming about all things http://www.thestonecoldfox.com/site/  I want to be the sexy gypsy goddess prancing around in their lovelies. been running around on 4" wedges, feeling oh-so-rock&roll which only makes sense in this dream scheme. got my eye on some key pieces from their collection, so we'll see what the universe says about that.

also on rotation in dreamland, my crushing on Aesop Rock & his wife Allyson. she plays in a band called Dirty Ghosts and I think they are the raddest couple.  I want to go on a double-date with them.

I'm trying to make a habit of blogging more frequently, along with tweeting my haikus.  My friend Holly has helped motivate me, and Marc is always there for inspiration.  I've also been pinning on Pinterest so, onwards and upwards into cyberspace we go!!

Dad

7 years ago today, a mighty Viking fell.

So much has happened since, and sometimes the memories seem ever more distant and clouded which frightens me.
My heart feels heavy, and I feel tiny like I once did holding his hand.

I'm not so sure of this "it gets easier as time goes by" mentality.  It still hurts, and I'm still sad, and I think it's okay to be sad
for however long you're sad.  Maybe it's forever.  Maybe you're just a little less sad with every passing year.

My dad taught me how to really listen to music, and the importance of a well rounded library. I imagine the conversations we would have about music today, and the demise of Rolling Stone magazine. "Electric Warrior" has been on repeat for the last 72 hours.

He popped his collar, and rocked pink polo shirts.  He was the best dressed dad by far.

He had a theory that Edgar Allen Poe is a question at least once in every epiosode of Jeopardy.  I have carried on the theory, and have proven great success.

I'd like to think he'd be proud, even though I've yet to learn Norwegian, but his legacy carries on through me.

I pop my collar at every chance I get.

lovely

this perfectly lovely warm weather has got my mind abuzz with all
things spring.  excited about planting my spring garden, not wearing socks and jasmine green iced tea from peets.  i'm sporting coral painted nails and a little extra pep in my step.
